Central Business District

The central business district is the hub of business and government within the region. Several corporate headquarters as well as numerous accounting, financial, and legal firms keep the district bustling. The most dense of all the downtown districts, the central business district has a large daytime population and has attracted several retail and residential developments including Warehouse Row, a 330,000 square foot mixed use development featuring unique dining and shopping destinations.

With the completion of the new Blue Cross/ Blue Shield campus on Cameron Hill, the CBD is poised for unprecedented retail opportunities. The ground floors of three significant historic buildings at the intersection of Broad Street and 7th Street are, for the first time in decades, going to be available for retail. The Hub Building, the Tivoli Center and the Miller Brothers building will combine to create over 40,000 square feet of new retail space in the CBD. Additionally, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield announced in December 2008 that 500 employees will remain on the upper three floors of the Miller Building.
